The Metropolitan Clerk’s Office is the official recordkeeping agency of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. The recorded legislative history of the city, along with all other official city documents, are managed and preserved in this office for safekeeping, archival, and research purposes. Metropolitan Clerk Marilyn S. Swing is a Master Municipal Clerk and has served in this position since 1984.

Nashville's mayor, Bill Purcell, is the fifth mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County since its formation in 1963. Learn more about Mayor Purcell on his homepage. Nashville's vice mayor, Howard Gentry, Jr., was elected to office in September 2002. Working closely with Mayor Purcell, Gentry also oversees the 40-member Metro Council.
